Alex's 10 Month Birthday

Actually this was yesterday, but I don't usually blog on Sunday. I really can't believe that he's ten months old, and it's really hard for me to think that I am a mommy to a ten month old. For some reason this seems like he's really growing up--more than the other "birthdays" he's had--maybe because he's getting mobile and closer to "toddlerhood". I don't know. Maybe I'm mushy today. Anyway, mobility has made it harder and harder to get a posed picture, so these were the best I could do!

One Little Indian

Alex recently learned how to do the indian noise, and has been known to make said noise for an entire 30min ride in the car! I've come up with a few indian names for him like Chief Makes Big Noise or Chief Grows A Lot, but my favorite is Chief Stinky Pants.

G is for Green Grass

So, my son thinks that it is really cool to put handfuls of grass in his mouth! The weather has been so gorgeous here that we've been able to go for lots of long walks lately and spend some time in the grass just chillin'. I got my camera out for a little impromptu photo shoot, but this happened to be the first time the boy really noticed the grass, so I got very few of him doing anything besides trying to pull up whole fistfulls of grass and jamming them into his mouth! Those will be good blackmail pictures for when he is older! (and yes, that is our dog with Alex in the last pic, not a small lion...Toby just needs a haircut badly!)

The "Almost Crawl"

Well, folks, my free time (little though it may have been) is now basically gone. Yes, that's right, the boy is mobile! We call it the "Almost Crawl" because it's not really smooth since he drags that one foot behind him still a little. I think he just doesn't have all the confidence he needs yet, but I'm not pushing him...I know that soon enough he will be so fast it will be hard to catch up with him! Our little man is growing up wayyyyy too fast!

Mirrors are great fun! Alex can stare into a mirror longer than a teenager! He especially likes to make faces and noises with his mouth and lots of spit while looking in the mirror. Good thing he's handsome like his dad!

The Amazing Pivot

This is some good footage of Alex's Amazing Pivot, as we call it at our house. It's been kinda funny lately cuz he can't always control where his little tushie ends up when he pivots around and he sometimes lands on top of a toy and gets really confused and frustrated with the situation. He is a busy boy, though, and really never stops moving when he is awake. Even when watching a Baby Einstein, he's all over the place between glances at the TV. Look out world (i.e. Mom) here he comes!

A Little Help Here?

Alex can't crawl yet, but it is amazing how he can get around by scooting and pivoting. We call his move "The Amazing Pivot!" I was doing dishes yesterday and Alex was playing on the floor nearby when I hear him start to cry. I look over, and this is where he is. So I rescue him right away, right? nope, I dart for the camera! He has been getting himself tangled in the coffee table, kitchen chairs, and office furniture a lot lately. I feel like I have added one more hat to my stack lately...search & rescue!

Happy Easter

This was our 4th Easter Dinner with the Neilson/Herman/Andrews Clan--Our Allen Park family! This year was quite different, though, with 3 children under 2 in the house! How do you keep hungry kids happy for pictures??? You don't really, but sippy cups and pacifiers help. We enjoyed our meal together and sharing stories and just God's goodness in giving us great friends! It was a great Easter Sunday at church as well, there were many visitors that heard the good news of God's saving grace! Overall I went to bed very thankful for all God has done and will do for me and my loved ones.

Go Tigers!!

I took these pics for the Tigers' opening day and forgot to post them--maybe that's why they lost! Oh, well, they won last night, and we cheered them on. We hope to take our boy to a game this summer, he was too little last summer, and they are so much fun!

A New Discovery

Alex has suddenly realized that he has this cool new toy: it's wet and sticky, it's always attached, and it's really fun to play with! Yes, he figured out that he has a tongue and he's sticking it out all the time. I'm sure I'm probably fostering bad manners, but I have to laugh at him--the faces he can make with that tongue sticking out--too hilarious. I figure I've got lots of time in the future to teach him good manners so for now we're just having fun!

Determination

The little man is getting braver and definitely closer to crawling. He does the rocking thing, though he usually ends up plopping down onto his stomach and getting frustrated--I think I must have rescued him from this situation about 5 million times already this week! He is quite determined though, and I think it will be soon.
