Stuff Around Here

Here are some random "goings-on" at our house, mostly for the sake of the grandparents!!

Sam has been hearing "no, no" a lot lately!  His big vices have been trying to open the oven door (obviously not good) and pulling things out of the trash can (also very bad for him and me!!).  He also likes to pull books off the bookshelves.  On the cuter side, he has been very, very huggy and lovely lately.  He now has 7 teeth.  He is also very consistently falling asleep on his own and sleeping through the night!!  Yeah for all of us!!!  He waved bye-bye for the first time this weekend and Ryan has taught him to say "Da-da" "Mum-mum" and "Bub-bub" (brother) and he seems to be catching on that those are our names.  He's a sharp little guy that catches on to things quickly.  His eyes have stayed Hazel.  Can you believe he will be ONE on Sunday???

Alex has been doing a great job using a "big boy" cup.  He has had very few spills and usually does a great job going slowly and using both hands.  He has been VERY proud of himself for this!!  It's cute.  He now knows all of his letters, most of the shapes and colors, and numbers up through 10 and is catching on to the "teens."  He enjoys making marks on his doodle pad and then proclaiming it to be whatever letter he thinks it looks like--his version of writing.  He has been given the privilege of walking along side the grocery cart in stores and has behaved really well when doing so.  He has also had some potty training success lately that has given me hope for the future!  He was also VERY proud of that!  In short...he's growing up!

My Teenager

Alex was so excited to talk on the phone with Grams yesterday and actually get to hold the phone himself for the first time!  He walked around the house and held the phone with one hand while using the other for gestures (can't imagine where he's seen that before!).  In case you have a hard time following the conversation (since when he gets going he often spouts out a lot of his gobbly-gook with real words just thrown in!) he starts off reading some of the numbers off the phone, then tells her about the floor, then points to pics of Daddy & "B" (that's Sam, long story) on the wall, then tells her that Grams (Gi-gi) is on the phone (duh?), then tells her something about Mum-mum, finally Bye-bye.  What a goof!

Cookie Time

My boys love chocolate chip cookies! And Alex especially likes to "help" to make them by stirring and dumping ingredients into the mixer. Sam, on the other hand, is a bit scared of the sound the mixer makes and flees the room during that part. He is, however, very willing to take part in the consuming of the final product! The other day we made cookies and I finally got Alex to taste the cookie dough--go figure, mom was right, it is delicious!! And both boys discovered the joy of watching the cookies in the oven...only thing is that now when the oven timer goes off, Alex runs the the kitchen yelling "cookies, cookies!" and is slightly dejected to find pork chops or enchilada bake in there instead!!
"Mmmm-mmmm! It's Good!"  (and that's a direct quote!)

This is Sam's happiness that the mixer was turned off.

Waiting more patiently than he does for really anything else.

Proof of enjoyment--right there on his upper lip!

This is a two-handed job!

Savor it...

Ok, guys, this is the last one...I mean it!!

We're Home!

Wow, I have sooooooo many photos to go through from our many Christmas celebrations, that I feel a little overwhelmed with the thought of blogging them right now, so I will just post these two cute ones from our Christmas day service at church. The boys were dressed up in their Sunday best and lookin' sharp. Sam's outfit turned out to be a little small and I couldn't do up the button on his collar or his sleeves, so he couldn't wear his tie, but no matter...still a cutie!!
